A Song; A Blog Yet To Follow -- June 26, 2022

Colorado Avalanche: Stanley Cup, 2022.

We'll post the song now, and wait for something to post.

The Brits are truly amazing.

A Day In The Life, John Lennon, Cover By Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck

I wish I could tell a story but I can't. It's too personal. It's in my diary. My daughters might stumble across it after I'm gone.

This is what's really cool about this song, or better said, this event.

Johnny Depp has some really, really devoted fans. They want to see him. But not on some late night talk show. They just want to see him. Johnny figured that out. He wanted to get out in front of his fans, but he didn't want to do mindless talk shows. He wanted to perform.

And here he did.

Quick! Who's the drummer?

  • #20: Abbey Road Anniversary
  • #66: Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp
  • #81: Lana Del Rey: Born To Die

100°F + -- heat index much higher, and the Texas grid held. Not even close. Plenty of sun and wind.

Wow, I Love Texas

The other night, a car (or two) was spinning "doughnuts" at a major intersection near where we live. Lots of doughnuts, lots of noise, capped by fireworks and/or firecrackers from the car(s).

It took a minute or so for a couple of Colleyville, TX, black and white SUV law enforcement vehicles to show up.

The outcome? The policemen simply waved to the car(s) spinning doughnuts; everyone departed in great spirts, no doubt.

The local police were working from a "no harm, no foul" aspect, and didn't want to turn a few minutes of exuberant fun into a major confrontation.

Tonight, different story, I'm driving down the street and a car pulls out in front of me from a somewhat "blind" drive/exit. The driver had an option: come to a quick stop or continue his move. I could see the driver's dilemma. I swung to the right and passed behind him, "no harm, no foul." We waved as we passed.

Friendly Texas driving.

Stay alert. Stay safe. Drive friendly.

Ledecky! First Swimmer -- Not First Woman, But First Swimmer Ever -- To Win Five Straight World Titles In An Event -- June 26, 2022

From a reader
The online 'chatter' about this young lady is increasing in tempo as a wider recognition  of her accomplishments are rippling across the internet.
I have said it before and I will repeat it ...
Using the specific criteria of peer comparison, NO one has dominated like Ms. Ledecky in the entire history of sport.

Hyperbole?

What golfer has won by 10 shots every tourrnament, tennis player always winning in straight sets, race car drivers lapping runners up, boxers KO'ing every opponent in the first round, baseball players winning 10 straight MVPs?

Obviously, no one.
World class athletes - even the immortals - compete against other, only slightly less talented, athletes.
Katy has been SO dominant in her sport, NOT merely by consistently winning, but by beating her challengers by HUGE margins ... for years now.
North Dakotans have every right to be immensely proud of the truly legendary accomplishments of  KL.

It's been fun to watch.

Music

Someone recently asked, if stranded on a desert island for a year, what one album would you want to have on that island? I couldn't answer that at the time the question was asked. After a weekend of listening to music while in the pool, I have my answer: Lana Del Rey's Best.

But having just renewed our lease for fifteen months, I have no complaints. At least thirty percent of our monthly rent is completely discretionary. I could give up that discretionary add-ons if push came to shove.

Add-ons like storage, one car port and two garages.

If the appearance fee is high enough, let's say $2 million, Phil Mickelson will make it a G-2 Summit. Just saying. Let the PM memes begin.

If The Washington Post is correct, it suggests my reading of the tea is completely incorrect. If The Washington Post is correct, one would think we might hear more "tactical nuclear" talk from Putin before the end of July, 2022.

All things being equal, this has to be very, very bullish for oil.

A Song For Hedy Lamarr -- Not Hedley Lamarr -- Enters Billboard Chart At 44 -- June 26, 2022

Recently released, just posted: link here

This Is A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr, Johnny Depp and Jeff Beck

This song reminds me of another song -- but I can't think of it right now. It will come later, I'm sure.

Jeff Beck: age 78.

Is Johnny Depp about to do some of his best work? Age 59.

Hedy Lamarr. Age 29. Wiki
During World War II, Lamarr learned that radio-controlled torpedoes, an emerging technology in naval war, could easily be jammed and set off course.
She thought of creating a frequency-hopping signal that could not be tracked or jammed. She contacted her friend, composer and pianist George Antheil, to help her develop a device for doing that, and he succeeded by synchronizing a miniaturized player-piano mechanism with radio signals.
They drafted designs for the frequency-hopping system, which they patented.

Subscibed to Science magazine. $79 -- annual.

Re-acquainted myself with Johnny Depp.

Re-acquainted myself with borderline personalities. If you haven't treated or been in a relationship with a borderline personality you have no idea. Trust me on this one.
