$7,000 / Acre In The Bakken -- September 13, 2025

Locator: 49100B.

This certainly caught me by surprise.

I thought the Bakken was dead based on what the media was reporting.

Look at these maps. I think I've posted this drilling unit before. The drilling unit has seven horizontals and it looks like there are ten wells on a megapad that are still on confidential (not all ten wells are in this drilling unit; some are running north).

A reader wrote to tell me he/she received an offer for the property above.

The location, offer:

  • 145-97-11, SE
  • $7,125 per net mineral acre
  • associated with the Lind 1-2H well, #20911, sited in section 2 and running south, into section 11;

The offer from the reader has not been fact-checked, but it comes from a reliable source.

Worse, I'm not familiar with this area and I'm doing this while engaged in some family activities so there may be some errors. Needs to be fact-checked but I think it's accurate.

If I have time, I'll come back to this. This is an important story and a personal story. So, we'll see.

Pre-Sales iPhone 17 In China "Shattered" Previous Records -- September 13, 2025

Locator: 49098APPLE.

The adjective "shattered" in this context seems to be noteworthy.

Posted four hours ago, Chinese demand for Apple's new iPhone 17. Note that the Apple's "big seller," based on excitement for "form factor" and early results in the US, the iPhone 17 AIR is not yet available in China.

Can we say super-cycle yet?

Link here

Note the intro: pre-orders for the Apple 17 in China have shattered records.

".... have shattered records."

If this is the headline Americans see Monday morning and/or if Jim Cramer mentions this headline Monday morning .... "Katy, bar the door."

From the linked article:

In the first minute after pre-orders began at 8pm Friday local time, sales on JD.com - one of China's largest online shopping platforms - surpassed the first-day pre-order volume of last year's iPhone 16 series.
The standard iPhone 17 with 256GB of storage emerged as the most popular variant.
Those numbers excluded the iPhone Air, the company's thinnest model ever, as its release has been postponed while Apple works with Chinese authorities to resolve regulatory issues over the use of an embedded SIM.

From the original source for this story

All time slots for picking up the iPhone 17 Pro Max in person at launch from Apple outlets in Shanghai were booked within 20 minutes.

As of Saturday morning, anyone in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, looking to buy any variant of the iPhone 17 series faced a waiting period extending to October 15.

The high demand underscores Apple’s strong brand loyalty in China and the appeal of the latest generation of iPhones, despite growing competition in the premium smartphone segment from local competitors like Huawei Technologies.

My hunch: the Chinese don't really care that much about embedded AI. But that leads to a whole new discussion, one we've touched on before and won't talk about here.

Track And Field Tokyo 2025 -- Full Schedule -- September 13 - Septer 21, 2025

Japan, I believe, is fourteen hours "ahead" of us here in north Texas.

If so, right now, 8:00 a.m. (0800) here in north Texas, it's already 10:00 p.m. (2200) in Tokyo.

Does that mean some early events have already taken place? Apparently: see first results here: link here.

Today, Saturday morning (here); late evening there -- event concluded some time ago.

Final: men's walk -- 35 km -- about 2.5 hours; US did not place in top three in men's or women's.

It appears the high jump finals is day 4, Tuesday 16, 2025, at 20:35. I assume that's local time, which means it would be 6:35 a.m. (0635) here in north Texas and 20:30 (2030) in Tokyo.

I could be wrong; I often get confused with the global time clock. Please fact-check and let me know if this is correct.

Regardless, when we wake up Tuesday morning, we’ll know the results.
