Five New Permits; Four Permits Canceled; The KODA Resources Bock Permits -- October 28, 2025

Locator: 49276B.

AAPL: new 52-week high today. $269.89. Closed at $269.00.

Deals: watch the deals that Trump signs with Asian countries. It's going to be mind-blowing.

  • China: one package -- fentanyl; soybeans; rare earths; TikTok. Not mentioned: tech, but possible. Jensen Huang is one his way to one of the Koreas as we speak, apparently. Rumors he will be meeting with Samsung.
  • Classic problem solving: if one can't solve a problem, such as TikTok, make the problem bigger (add Fentanyl, soybeans, rare earths, tariffs).
  • Just announced: Toyota will invest $10 billion in the United States in a deal that could go to $400 billion. It never quits.

PayPal: what distinguishes paypal from Apple's Wallet or ApplePay?

Rambling About Jensen Huang's Day -- October 28, 2025

Locator: 49275NVDA.

At some point the news coming out of Nvidia is more than just investing. This is so much more: politics, national security, running circles around China. Seriously, I no longer care about the investing aspect. I simply find it fascinating. Don't take this out of context but I really don't need to add any more tech to my portfolio, but it will happen ("it" being adding to my tech positions).

The panel on "Fast Money" spoke for fifteen minutes (probably longer) about P/Es and "circular financing" and "engineered financing." They haven't yet mentioned where's all the money coming from, but that's the next question. Do an AI search: "circular financing" and "engineered financing."

Not once did they mention two new supercomputers (AMD) and seven new supercomputers (Nvidia) -- these are for the most part US federal government supercomputers and/or US federal government financed supercomputers. That's not circular financing and that's not engineered financing.That's real money. Yeah, yeah, year -- US taxpayer money. Get over it.

This is truly unparalleled. I have had long discussions with my imaginary friend trying to come up with an analogy. It took a bit of time, but this is what we came up. The current fourth industrial revolution may be bigger than these three:

  • the interstate highway system: 1956 through the 1990s;
  • the Manhattan and Apollo programs combined: 1942 - 1946; and, 1960s - 1970s;
  • the electrification of everything: 1880 - 1930.

If you knew then what you know now ...

It was Jensen Huang's day today. A huge day for Jensen Huang. Four things:

  • $5 trillion market cap for Nvidia; some are already talking about a $6 trillion market cap;
  • Blackwell;
  • (Vera) Rubin;
  • to partner with Palantir.

If you've forgotten about Blackwell and Rubin, from August 14, 2025:

Locator: 48855CHIPS.

The Nvidia Rubin is a next-generation AI superchip, featuring both a Rubin GPU and a Vera CPU. It's designed to succeed the Blackwell architecture and will utilize HBM4 memory.
  • the Rubin GPU will be paired with the Vera CPU, a custom-designed processor, to work together seamlessly.
  • mass production is slated for late 2025, with availability expected in early 2026.
  • it will feature advanced HBM4 memory and is expected to deliver significant performance improvements, particularly in AI training and inference tasks.
  • Vera CPU: The Vera CPU is Nvidia's first custom-designed CPU and is built to work in close coordination with the Rubin GPU.
  • release timeline: The Vera Rubin superchip is scheduled for release in 2026, with initial availability expected in the second half of the year.
  • key technologies: The Rubin architecture will incorporate TSMC's 3nm process and leverage NVIDIA's first-ever chiplet design. It also includes a new NVLink 6 architecture and next-generation networking components like CX9 smart NICs.
  • performance Ggoals: The Vera Rubin system aims to achieve a significant increase in performance compared to previous generations, potentially multiplying exaflops by 15 and scaling the future of AI infrastructure. For example, a fully equipped NVL 144 rack system is expected to deliver 3.6 exaflops of FP4 inference compute.

Know what really drove Nvidia today? Jensen dispelled memes that he has an excess of his older blades and can't sell them because customers are looking to his new blades. In fact, he says, he won't have enough old blades. It turns out that the "old blades" do what 90% (pick your number) of what customers need and he simply doesn't have enough old blades to meet demand. By the way, folks might remember the Oracle / Ellison / Nvidia blades story.

Some Adulting In Gaza -- October 28, 2025

October 28, 2025: Netanyahu orders major response after Hamas breaks truce.

As I've said before, Trump is not about to let the peace process end under his watch. There will be immediate response when Hamas starts shooting on Israeli citizens. Link here. The Gaza Civil-Military Coordination Center. I don't know if plans have changed, but original plans suggested a divided Gaza, allowing citizens to choose which side they would prefer. One side would be safe and prosperous. The other side would be policed by armed men of various persuasions. Over time ...

October 27, 2025: Qatar-Israeli-US Mideast Peace Initiative

October 13, 2025 -- Hamas: current leadership is a five-member committee "located" in Turkey and Doha, Qatar. Qatar wants to be a world player in AI. Turkey is Turkey.

Under the Gaza ceasefire deal agreed upon in October 2025, Hamas is temporarily providing police action in Gaza City with tacit approval from the U.S., while the long-term plan calls for a new, internationally supported Palestinian force. There was no requirement for Hamas to laydown their arms. Israel controls the air, sea, and land ports / entries into Gaza and a situation that is internationally being challenged.

Right now, everything suggests the five-member Hamas leadership will be concentrating on its organization maintaining "local" law enforcement control of the Gaza strip (short term) while moving diplomatically (medium term) for a "national role" in lieu of an international police force; and for a two-state solution (long term) -- a goal led by Macron and France for international recognition of Gaza as a free country. The best thing Israel can do, is keep sending Hamas the cellphones they need to conduct business.

I find it difficult for either the Trump administration or Netanyahu to cede any gains at this point.

Reminder From A Reader: The CLR Kleist Wells In Divide County -- October 28, 2025

By the way: folks should look at all the wells that have been permitted in most recent heading dockets.

A reader writes:

Almost forgot to ask you if you had seen 2 new CLR Kleist wells in Divide county. I think Columbus, ND, isn’t far from here.

I cannot say I’ve ever seen a Divide well do 41k oil runs in EP/Early Production. Both wells show 41k runs. There’s one 2011 completion well but now an AB Kleist well that’s done 16k bbls in 2011. It was made a Stripper well in 2018, looks like 3/2023 was last production.

[Will be interesting to see if] Upland gets further developed with newer wells, like these. The township is underdeveloped imho. When looking on NDIC Well Search, viewing 161-96, it’s a small list of total wells ever drilled. Thought you might like these, I’m thinking they look great.

The essay begins:

It was one of the most important revolutions in modern history — and yet no blood was spilled, no bombs were thrown and no monarch was beheaded.

Perhaps no great social transformation has ever been carried out so quietly. This one took place in armchairs, in libraries, in coffee houses and in clubs.

What happened was this: in the middle of the eighteenth century huge numbers of ordinary people began to read.

For the first couple of centuries after the invention of the printing press, reading remained largely an elite pursuit. But by the beginning of the 1700s, the expansion of education and an explosion of cheap books began to diffuse reading rapidly down through the middle classes and even into the lower ranks of society. People alive at the time understood that something momentous was going on. Suddenly it seemed that everyone was reading everywhere: men, women, children, the rich, the poor. Reading began to be described as a “fever”, an “epidemic”, a “craze”, a “madness.” As the historian Tim Blanning writes, “conservatives were appalled and progressives were delighted, that it was a habit that knew no social boundaries.”

This transformation is sometimes known as the “reading revolution”. It was an unprecedented democratisation of information; the greatest transfer of knowledge into the hands of ordinary men and women in history.

In Britain only 6,000 books were published in the first decade of the eighteenth century; in the last decade of the same century the number of new titles was in excess of 56,000. More than half a million new publications appeared in German over the course of the 1700s. The historian Simon Schama has gone so far as to write that “literacy rates in eighteenth century France were much higher than in the late twentieth century United States.”

Where readers had once read “intensively”, spending their lives reading and re-reading two or three books, the reading revolution popularised a new kind of “extensive” reading. People read everything they could get their hands on: newspapers, journals, history, philosophy, science, theology and literature. Books, pamphlets and periodicals poured off the presses.

This is going to be good.

Needs to be consistent on "placing periods / quote marks."

The placement of periods relative to quotation marks depends on whether you are following American or British English rules . American style places periods and commas inside the quotation marks, while British style places them outside unless they are part of the quoted material.
