Re-Frack Of A Well Originally With An Open-Hole Frack -- Back In 2017 -- Posted November 11, 2025

Locator: 49399B.

The well:

  • 17171, 391, MRO, Fred Hansen 34-8H, Bailey, t10/08; cum 536K 9/25; huge jump / halo effect 7/17 that lasted for quite some time

This is so cool.

This well was drilled in 2008. Cumulative production has exceeded 500K bbls crude oil cumulative. Pretty good. I was curious. To get to 500K this well had to have had a jump in production somewhere along the way.

I noted this on the production profile; I found the jump! Again, the well was originally drilled/completed/tested 10/08. The data below is from 2017, nine years later.

The cause of the jump?

I first checked the neighboring wells to see when they were fracked. Nothing matched.

So, I went back to the well file:

Date of sundry form, received by NDIC: August 11, 2017!

"Refrack of original open hole lateral.Did lateral cleanout with H&P 438, and ran 4.5" line (cemented), then did 45-stage plug and perf."

Re-frack, test, initial production: 1,386 bbls in first 24 hour.

  • 45 stages
  • volume: 98,243 bbls
  • sand frack
  • lbs proppant: 5,553,640

Truly amazing: this is a utility out in the middle of nowhere --

Amgen (AMGN):

  • The return in Amgen does not include the dividends which were significant.

The book:

Silent Spring Revolution: John F. Kennedy, Rachel Carson, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, And The Great Environmental Awakening, Douglas Brinkley, c. 2022

I have this book on my desk and go through it periodically; it's been my book of the day many times. It brings back a lot of memories -- just look at the names in the subtitle: JFK, LBJ, Nixon -- it was a very different time.

If I take notes on the book, I place them here

I have no position in this company, never have, unlikely I ever will.

I am posting this to help me keep track of LNG export facilities.

From the linked article:

U.S. LNG exporter Venture Global booked a net income for the third quarter, compared to a loss a year earlier, as revenues and LNG exports soared amid rising liquefaction capacity at its plants.

Venture Global, the second-largest U.S. LNG exporter behind Cheniere, on Monday, November 10, 2025, reported a net income attributable to common stockholders of $429 million for the third quarter, versus a loss of $347 million for the same period of 2024. Wow.

Revenues soared by 260% and income from operations surged by 598% as Venture Global’s exported LNG volumes jumped by 237% to 100 cargoes in the third quarter of 2025, up from 31 cargoes exported in the same period last year.

Venture Global has been ramping up its Plaquemines export project, and 34 of 36 liquefaction trains at the site are now producing LNG.

34 of 36 trains! Wow.

So, How's It Going For Chuck Schumer Today?

The picture below is in the dictionary next to the word schadenfreude.

Gets a vote in the US Senate on ObamaCare.

Ironically, the US House won't even consider voting on an ObamaCare-Schumer bill.

Everyone on x is asking Schumer to step down. Hopefully, the GOP knows better; they need to keep Schumer in place.

Senator John Fetterman, D-PA, voted 15 times to re-open the government. Schumer voted 15 times to keep the government closed to ensure US troops wouldn't get paid until after Veterans Day.

Veterans Day -- Very, Very Bittersweet Memories -- November 11, 2025

Locator: 49392VETERANSDAY.

Off the net for a couple of hours.

I'm off to a Veterans Day event at Sophia's middle school.

I'll see if Sophia can get a better photo of me.

I still fit in my old flight suit / jacket.

In 1984, I earned my "wings" and went on flying status. As part of the process, I was fitted with uniforms and helmet.

I was stationed at Grand Forks AFB, ND, so we were issued cold weather jackets as the standard-issue jacket. I don't recall ever getting a "regular" or warm-weather jacket. I wore this jacket almost every day for 30 years, regardless of where I was assigned, including the Middle East during the summer!

When one separated from the USAF, you returned your issued uniforms to be recycled for new recruits. I was new so I was issued a jacket that had been issued to a "Major Baird." He would have gotten this jacket no later than as a captain, possibly a lieutenant, which meant he wore this jack for at least ten years, probably as a B-52 navigator or weapons system operator.

So, this jacket was almost continuously worn for forty years. I retired in 2007 -- so now, another 18 years this jacket has been around, worn to ever Veterans Day event since 2007.

So, 58 years old -- this jacket. Not one sign of aging. No fraying of the elastic sleeves, no need to have the zipper replaced, no cuts or tears. Absolutely perfect condition.

For some reason, I was allowed to keep all my issued uniforms when I retired. Including my helmet. And G-suit.

Same with these boots. The original boots from 1984, or thereabouts.

Thought experiment on inflation, housing: let's assume the entire GDP was driven by the housing sector.
Suppose the inflation rate was running 8% due to increasing cost of building houses. The Fed's answer to fighting inflation -- raise rates. So, now, it's even more expensive to build homes. Now, what might happen if the Fed pivoted 180 degrees and suggesting maybe building more houses would slow the pace of the increase in housing prices. And to do that? Lower interest rates. Just a thought experiment.
Thought experiment on inflation, AI instructure: let's assume the entire GDP was driven by the cost of AI infrastructure. See thought experiment on inflation, housing, above.
