Thought experiment on inflation, housing: let's assume the entire GDP was driven by the housing sector.
Suppose the inflation rate was running 8% due to increasing cost of building houses. The Fed's answer to fighting inflation -- raise rates. So, now, it's even more expensive to build homes. Now, what might happen if the Fed pivoted 180 degrees and suggesting maybe building more houses would slow the pace of the increase in housing prices. And to do that? Lower interest rates. Just a thought experiment.
