Cowboys Pick Is In; 12th Pick: Tyler Booker, Guard, Alabama -- April 24, 2025

Locator: 48512NFL.

NFL draft picker: link here.

Biggest surprise so far in the draft: Shedeur Sanders has not yet been picked (we're at the 12th pick -- Dallas Cowboys).

Quarterback picks are "sliding." At the 15th pick.

Now it gets interesting. Less than a one-percent chance that he wouldn't be pick in the top ten: Jalon Walker -- 15th overall pick. Atlanta Falcons.

Still waiting for the quarterbacks to get picked.

Holy mackerel! Shedeur Sanders not picked by the Pittsburg Steelers, 21st pick! It's almost as if the team never expected Shedeur Sanders to "drop" this far and and stayed with the plan A, assuming Sanders would have already been picked!

It took awhile, but Matthew Golden (R -- Texas) is headed for Green Bay!!! Wow! Well deserved!

The sweet spot in the NFL draft is the 18th to 24th picks in the first round.

 I will quit blogging when Shedeur Sanders is picked or the first round ends -- whichever comes first.

First round: 28th of 32 picks is in -- #29, Washington Commander, is on the clock.

Last one in the first round: KC! Pick is in! Josh Simmons.

Done for the night.

Most interesting data point: state, number of active rigs, amount of crude oil produced per day yielding a ratio:

  • Texas: 274 rigs ---> 5.584 million bbls of crude oil / day --> 20,379.
  • New Mexico: 100 rigs --> 2.060 million bbls of crude oil / day --> 20,600.
  • North Dakota: 32 --> 1.16 million bbls of crude oil / day --> 36,250.

 Effective, efficient, higher TOC.

USA Corps Of Engineers Lied, Complicit In Illegal Protests -- Judge -- April 24, 2025

Locator: 48505B.

Dallas Mavericks: the fog is starting to clear.

Las Vegas has a professional basketball team: the Las Vegas Aces of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). They have been based in Las Vegas since relocating from San Antonio in 2017.

The USA Corps of Engineers: lied, complicit in demonstrations. Link here.

The judge ruled the Army Corps was legally required to enforce its property rights as soon as it became aware of the protests — either by requiring the demonstrators to obtain a permit to use its land or forcing the protesters to leave.

Early on in the demonstrations, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe was in talks with the Army Corps about obtaining a special use permit, but those negotiations fell through, witnesses testified during the trial last year.

In September 2016, the Corps published a press release stating the permit had been granted, despite that the tribe never completed the application process.

RBN Energy: for tech giants, powering data centers is not all about natural gas. Archived.

Tech giants such as Google, Amazon and Meta have long sought to meet their data-center power needs while at least limiting their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. But while many developers and utilities have turned to natural gas to power data centers because of its ability to provide reliable 24/7 power, renewable generation continues to play a role, especially if it includes plans to utilize on-site battery storage. Data centers are increasingly being co-located near new renewable generation sources, which can also boost grid reliability, as we explain in today’s RBN blog.
