The Bakken Never Ceases To Amaze Me -- June 28, 2020

An incredible number of wells that came off the confidential list in 1Q20 and 2Q20 did not report any production; some were placed on drl status; others were DUCs (SI/NC).

Now, interestingly, a lot of those wells are now reporting production. I honestly did not expect to see this so soon. It is not unusual for DUCs to remain DUCs for one to two years.

I started going through these wells earlier this evening, but there were so many, I just had to quit. I could have done this all night.

These are some huge wells. These are infill wells. Analysts say these wells should not be this "huge." Just think when they go back and re-frack all those wells drilled back before 2014 (seven years of wells -- 2007 - 2014 -- that will need to be re-fracked). And, then of course, for every middle Bakken well there needs to be a corresponding Three Forks first bench well where the Three Forks exists, and maybe a second bench and a third bench well, as well. There's a lot of work left to be done in the Bakken assuming the world still uses oil five years from now and the next administration doesn't ban fracking.
