After looking at this tax again:
- this affects the top 1%; this does not affect me; it probably does not affect you;
- this "kiddie tax" should be renamed the "nuisance tax"
- even if it affects you, it's minimal; and,
- if it affects you significantly, you need a better tax accountant / financial advisor.
