Streaming, Fox Corp, Roku -- June 19, 2026

Locator: 51012STREAMING.

AI: I've been talking about streaming (and its shortcomings) on the blog today and all of a sudden, out of the blue, I got a personal message from Amazon Prime telling me how to find what I needed where I wanted on Amazon Prime. This cannot be coincidental.

PGA: second round -- Scottie not on the leaderboard. Scottie may be the next Tiger, but he doesn't look like it ... yet.

PGA: continuing the discussion on Fox Corp and Roku, another example. The US Open, clearly the most important US golfing event -- the morning of the second round is available only if you pay to see it. Yes, most of the Open will be available for free, but one can see where this is going ....

The second round of the U.S. Open is airing exclusively on Peacock and NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) in the morning, shifting to NBC in the afternoon. It is not currently on basic cable, like USA Network, which aired the first round.

Influenza outbreak among military recruits in San Antonio, TX: how severe is it? The CDC isn't even tracking it. The local stations reporting this outbreak do not provide the denominator. In fact, in any given week there are 6,000 recruits at Lackland. So, 150 / 6,000 or 150 / 18,000 depending how you handle the denominator. The local pharmacy is going to run out of Tamiflu and it's going to be very, very expensive. The vaccine: "peanuts" in costs. Hegseth is brilliant. As is RFK, Jr. Nothing like wasting taxpayer money.

On federal holidays, the USPS is closed: it's wonderful that Amazon Prime is still moving packages. Wow.

DOD is also closed today.

National intelligence: if the US Congress is not going to continue funding FISO, is it time to fire hundreds of intel officers? Trump's acting director for national intelligence thinks so.

President Donald Trump's pick for acting director of national intelligence, Bill Pulte, showed up at his new job a day early on Thursday after asking for a list of every employee in the office so he could assess whether to fire them, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN. -- source.
