Taking a break from the NBA and The Third Man.
The technology in the Apple iPhone is incredible. Last night I uploaded the most recent iOS operating system, iOS 18.4.1. The upgrade had some features I needed. Minor in the big scheme of things. The photo feature I enjoy the most: stickers from the Apple Photo app. It's simply amazing. So, now emojis and stickers.
Also, I don't know how "they" do it, but it appears Apple AI has somehow linked airline reservations with its Apple calendar. I don't know. I just discovered it tonight. I have two calendar apps on my iPhone. One is the Google calendar which has been my default calendar across all devices for as long as I can remember. The other is the Apple calendar that comes pre-loaded on the iPhone.
Tonight I went to update my calendar. I was amazed to see that Apple had automatically linked / loaded my airline reservations on the Apple calendar. My google calendar had not been updated. I have no idea how Apple AI "gathered" my American Airlines reservation. It had everything, including the locator code and my notes regarding the flight.
Besides airline reservations I wonder what else Apple AI links to the Apple computer.

NBA: Dallas Mavericks at Memphis Grizzlies
Play-In
Midway through the second quarter, the Mavericks are getting hammered by the Grizzlies, 44 - 24. So far I'm not impressed with Anthony Davis. AD is 32 years old; Luka Dončić is 26. The latter has several times the charisma on the court that AD has, though I'm told AD is the best basketball player ever. Source: some sports talk show.
Ja Morant, for the Grizzlies, is 25 years old.
Just before the end of the half, AD is "pulled" away from a confrontation with the lead ref and "escorted" by a Dallas official off the court and towards the locker room. One wonders if the LA Lakers knew something about AD that was missed by the Mavericks.
Final score: 120 - 106. Grizzlies.
Moffett Federal Airfield
An incredibly interesting story.
Wiki.
Quick:
Who has a 60-year lease?
Who is the operator of Moffett Federal Airfield?
Name a more historically important airfield than Moffett Airfield in the lower 48.
Next up: the venerable C-130. Deliveries first began in 1956 when I was five years old. About the same age as the oil story in North Dakota. Still setting records in 2025.
Started out with a 3-blade, four-turboprop engine. Then the four-blade and most recently, the 8-blade.
The C-130 model during my USAF career? The C-130H.
Wiki.
The newest / current model, the C-130J.
Wiki.
Just released, March 6, 2025. Amazon.
The C-130: the longest continuously produced military aircraft since the first one rolled off the production line in 1954. In fact, since its introduction into service the C-130 has produced over seventy variants, including gunships, search-and-rescue and scientific research aircraft, and is currently in service with some seventy nations.
