Two Billion Gallons Of Crude Oil Released From The SPR; Six New Permits; Ten Wells Approved For Confidential Status; Four DUCs Reported As Completed -- November 23, 2021

The day Brandon released 2.1 billion gallons of crude oil from the nation's strategic petroleum reserve -- you know, the reserve we keep in reserve in case the US Army reserves need to fight a war. That reserve. 

That's good. The US airlines needed that fuel to make a profit this holiday season.

Six new permits, #38672 - #38673, inclusive:

  • Operators: CLR -- damn the torpedoes ... with six and MRO with one;
  • Fields: Cedar Coulee (Dunn County); Bailey (Dunn)
  • Comments:
    • CLR has permits for five more Bang wells, to be sited in SWSW 4-146-94, Cedar Coulee oil field, sited 340 FSL and between 745 FWL and 925 FWL.The CLR Bang wells are tracked here.
    • MRO has a permit for a single State Sword permit, the well to be sited in SWSE 36-146-94, Bailey oil field; will be sited 616 FSL and 1759 FEL;

Ten wells were approved for confidential status, including eight Oasis permits:

  • Borden Federal (3)
  • Fraser Federal (4)
  • Wren Federal

Four producing wells (DUCs) were reported as completed:

Since the NDIC is letting us down on reporting updated data, I guess I have to start getting serious.

    • Eagle Operating: is reporting the new active rig since yesterday, Iron Hand 108, file #38630, Willy Miranda;
    • CLR's Nabors B1 moved off Thorp Federal middle Bakken (#38518) and is drilling Thorp Federal Three Forks (#38517)
    • Crescent Point's Noble 4 moved off CPEUSC Austin (#35410) and is drilling CPEUSC Narcisse (#38516)
    • Kraken still not reporting an active rig, though it had one last week
