It will take a decade to play out but this is going to be the energy story of the 2020's.
We'll sort it out later but there are seven (?) global integrated oil E&P companies. Three of them American (?); four of them European (?). The European majors have declared for "renewable energy." At least one American company has declared for "fossil fuel" and my hunch, the other two will follow.
If that's (generally) accurate, it means that the three American companies will have much less competition. Instead of seven competitors, "they" may be down to three.
As an investor, if you want to remain invested in pure-play fossil fuel at the "global" level, you have three choices. If you like renewable energy, you have four other choices.
