A Reader Has A Question About The Gloria Well (Jim Creek Oil Field) And "The Nearby Hartman" Well -- December 2, 2018

Updates

December 4, 2018: see comments -- a reader tells us that one of the Gloria wells has come in at 50,000 over 21 days of production.

December 4, 2018: in the comment section a reader notes the MRO "Ajax" play in the Bakken. This is a screenshot from the MRO presentation, September 5, 2018.

December 4, 2018: a reader had a question about how to access some information at the NDIC site. See comments dated today.

Original Post

A reader asked if I could "clarify the Gloria one and the Hartman well nearby." It was noted that the "Gloria" well comes off the confidential list this week.

There are many, many Hartman wells in Jim Creek, but the only one that is "near" the Gloria well coming off confidential well this week is the Isabelle Hartman well, #17971.

#34892 comes off confidential list this week. Because it's on the confidential list I can't say much about it, but it is most likely on a drilling unit of 1280 acres, running north. The scout ticket says it's a "Jim Creek" well which suggests it will run north; if it were running south, it would be a Murphy Creek well. I believe #34892 and #17971 are in different drilling units. For sure, #17971 is 1280 acres, running east-west. According to a sundry form dated September 2, 2018, for #17971, "MRO has set a freshwater impoundment on this pad to support nearby fracking operations on the Gloria Pad which have recently finished completions."

    1. You are so correct. I completely missed that --- that would be the one reason to explain why the Hartman would be taken off line. Great catch. Thank you.

  2. I’m intrigued, I got my subscription renewed, but I just don’t understand where you sourced the info on the Gloria well. Is there a source I am unaware to use.

As usual thank you for any insight you have.

    Brian.

    1. I do make mistakes so I'm always worried I may have made a mistake here but I think it's all correct.

      1. I have the basic subscription ($50/year).

      2. Every Sunday I go to the "confidential well list": https://www.dmr.nd.gov/oilgas/confidential.asp.

      3. At that site, I do a "word search" looking for wells that will be coming off the confidential list the following week.

      4. This week, Gloria (#34892) will be coming off the confidential list.

      5. I then go to "well production history" at this link: https://www.dmr.nd.gov/oilgas/basic/getwellprod.asp.

      6. Entering file number #34892 will bring you to the Gloria well in Jim Creek with one month of production; still on confidential list.

See if that helps or makes sense.

  3. BRuce thanks again.

News flash. One of the wells in the Gloria group came in at 50000 plus barrels for 21 days of production.

This is game changer for this area. I think this will make next marathon presentation, AJAX field now profitable and prolific.

    Have a good night

    Brian.

    1. You are so correct (about MRO). I'm pretty sure that MRO will be the "producer of the year, 2018" when I put together the top stories of 2018. MRO has been doing incredible stuff in the Bakken. I am thrilled for you. Wishing you continued good fortune and a great 2019.
