Apparently there was an earthquake southeast of Williston: a 3.3 earthquake on September 28, 2012. The news is now starting to make the rounds. It takes a bit longer for news to travel in North Dakota. This was the first I heard of it -- a reader alerted me. Thank you.
Largest earthquake in North Dakota: 5.5 in 1909.
It looks like fracking, by micro-stimulation, lessens the likelihood of a large earthquake in North Dakota which could cause the state to fall into the Pacific Ocean. No tsunami alerts have been issued for the Missouri River.
I heard that BURP Oil, a rumored DOE front company that just arrived in the basin yesterday, was testing new proprietary low yield thermonuclear frac technology invented in china at a well site just outside the williston city limits when "something" went wrong, according to Lin Hell ndic spokesman. The "quake" was felt as far south as the watford city mega man camp.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, the dots are starting to connect. If you google BURP oil you will get a lot of hits -- but it's all about fish oil. A great cover story.
Deleteperhaps b/c this quake was oddly VERY shallow at .4mile.
ReplyDeleteperhaps...
Delete... as noted, fracking probably saved North Dakota" from the BIG ONE by relieving a bit of stress that's been building up since 1909.
Now, if only global warming would moderate some of our North Dakota winters. Smile.
