An incredibly interesting article. Look at that:
The world's largest investment firm, BlackRock,along with its infrastructure and private-credit arms, owns an 80% stake in this Texas LDC. Meta Platforms, which will use the data centers (plural?) owns the other 20%. The complex is expected to have around 1 gigawatt of capacity.
This is a huge change just from a year ago, it seems. At that time, it seemed an LDC represented a $2 billion investment for 1GW capacity. So, what's going on? According to a chatbot:
