- California could enact "billionaire's tax" as soon as next year. Will vote later this year.
- Governor Newsom does not want California to go down this road by itself; wants the "billionaire's tax" to be enacted at the federal / national level.
- it's a pretty safe bet that a "billionaire's tax" won't happen at the federal level for the next three years or so
- Newsome is concerned -- is California the next NYC, the next Denver?
Now, news breaking, Peter Thiel exiting California and has moved to Florida. This may be the biggest news story today. Or maybe even this week.
I just spent an hour with Gemini discussing the "big names" of Silicon Valley -- those currently living. I was curious about the choices Gemini would suggest as nominees for "the face of Silicon Valley." My first choice would be Peter Thiel as the "face of Silicon Valley." The chatbot provided twelve possibilities from three different sectors.
For various reasons, I still place Peter Thiel at the top.
Peter Thiel leaving California for Florida speaks volumes. This is huge, and I'm sure Governor Newsom is well aware what this means: the multi-billionaires from Silicon Valley have now been given the "green light" to move out of state.
