Waiting for Sophia -- Corky on the left and Flower Blossom on the right:

Aren't six-old-old children just so precious and just so innocent?

    1. Ich bin zu Hause, oder, ist es "Ich bin zuhause?"

      Macht nichts.

I'm still in my apartment but lots of water damage from recent storm has things in a bit of turmoil. Sophia is doing fine at her house (no water damage); probably when photo was taken by her mother, Sophia was getting ready for bed, and her friends were waiting for her.

Sophia really, really takes care of her fluffy friends, and vice versa.

  2. No joy in anything I read here. Would you care to give us all an honest update as to the status of you/family? How bad was the water damage.... how painful was the electric bill, was anything blown out of proportion? Inquiring minds want to know....

    1. It's all relative. I have a small apartment. The pipe that burst was not in my apartment or any of the tenants. We all did our part keeping water dripping, but each apartment building (10 apartments in each building) had a "fire department closet) where hydrant connections and fire/water sprinklers were linked. So, none of the tenants was/were the cause of the problem.

The problem for the apartment owner is drying out the baseboards, walls, etc. So there will be a lot of drilling holes in the wall and fans running to dry things out.

So there will be a lot of damage caused by water remediation teams drying things out. But I immediately rented a U-Haul, loaded everything in the U-Haul and will store it for the "duration." U-Haul storage in our area is providing free storage for the first month if storage is due to water damage.

So, from my perspective in the big scheme of things, it's relatively minor. My wife and my extended family would heartily disagree. LOL. But I'm certainly having a better day than Tiger Woods.

Finally, I haven't gotten the utility bill, but my power was off all that time, and I wasn't using power before the power went out. It got down to 48 degrees in the evening; I don't know how cold it got overnight, but I survived just fine. My wife was in Portland, OR, with the new grandsons.

Hopefully that answers some of the questions. A hurricane would have been so much worse.
