The super skinny skyscrapers have been a fascinating development. The uber rich are putting them up like crazy. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2019/feb/05/super-tall-super-skinny-super-expensive-the-pencil-towers-of-new-yorks-super-rich
Brooklyn is having a boom too. Every morning I take a few minutes to watch. You can see old buildings, now storage, being torn down floor by floor and towers go up. It's quite amazing, some really ugly dilapidated areas downtown are a hub of activity. https://newyorkyimby.com/neighborhoods/dobro-outsidemanhattan
One of the completed towers has a Target, Alamo Drafthouse, Trader Joes, and huge food market, and subway stop in the basement. I'm sure there is a work from home person living in it who hasn't left for months.

That's interesting about Brooklyn. If I had all the money in the world, I would visit NYC as often as I had time.
