We have been told that wells in the Bakken produce between 3 - 5 years. Is that true?
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, but that must be a typo. Remove the two spaces and the hyphen between the "3" and the "5" and you be close: Bakken wells are expected to produce for 39 years (yes, that is the actual number). The wells pay off in the first few years, but will produce for a long time after that. EOG's expectation for a new well is that the well will pay for itself "at the wellhead" in six months.
