X-Files -- November 22, 2025

Locator: 49776ARCHIVES.

EVs: observation -- we have three EV chargers in our 400-unit apartment complex. A year ago or so or maybe even longer I usually saw one of the EV chargers with an electric vehicle charging every so often, at least twice a week. Now, this past summer I "never" saw an electric vehicle charging at any of these EV chargers.

Politics: The opposite of a lame duck: when you withdraw your endorsement of someone and that someone ends her career within days.

Sports: Vanderbilt Ladies Soccer defeats Clemson 3 - 2 in double overtime in the second round to advance in the NCAA championship. Vanderbilt advances to the Sweet 16, where they will play LSU.

Nvidia: CNBC talking heads suggest Trump's possible proposal to allow Nvidia to sell H200 chips to China is lame. CNBC must have missed Lisa Su's memo.

COP: Who cares and I have no idea where it stands now, but seven hours ago, at the conclusion of COP30, the summit is deadlocked as EU rejects draft deal. Three hours ago, still no agreement and "many" delegates are already leaving. On CO2-spewing jets. Sticking point: smaller countries want more cash.

More: COP30 did agree on one thing. Turkey will host COP31 but its rival, Australia, will play a role in running the negotiations. COPs are getting as financially rewarding for the host country as the Olympics. LOL.

Hydrogen: XOM freezes plans for major hydrogen plant amid weak customer demand. Mercedes-Benz recently announced plans to develop hydrogen-powered trucks with the GenH2 fuel-cell truck currently undergoing real-world customer trials. Probably a European thing.

NYC: Trump and Mamdani say NY utility Con Edison needs to cut rates. Environmentalists sue to stop Transco Northeast natural gas pipeline -- New Jersey under-the-water to New York City. Yup, that's how to get it done.

Pipeline: BP's Olympic Pipeline remains shut down due to a leak near Everett, Washington. Key pipeline delivering fuel, including aviation fuel, to Seattle,  Sea-Tac International Airport, Tacoma, and Portland. Initially, only a small portion of the pipeline was shutdown, now the entire Olympic Pipeline system. No interruptions yet noted at airports just ahead of the busiest travel season of the year.

LNG: Huge partnership between US and Saudi Arabia for LNG.

Oil: the Permian remains a monster. While there are only 29 rigs in the Bakken, there are 254 rigs in the Permian this weekend.
