IRS: Bessent to remain irs commissioiner indefinitely. Holy mackerel. Never a dull day in the Trump administrator. US Congress shut down. White House not slowing down; showing up to work 24/7.
Paramount: is that accurate?
Yes, the Paramount/Skydance media entity is expected to acquire The Free Press from founder Bari Weiss, who will be installed as editor in chief of CBS News. The deal is reportedly valued around $150 million, with the acquisition intended to expand Paramount's media holdings and install Weiss, a prominent and controversial journalist, at the helm of a major news division.
Stock market, NASDAQ surging! Does this have anything to do with the New England Patriots crushing the Buffalo Bills last night? The Bills were the last undefeated NFL team. Taken out by 2 - 2 Patriots. Also, sadly for Jim Cramer -- his Philadelphia Eagles take their first loss yesterday -- to the Denver Broncos. Say what? Denver Broncos?
CEOs: AMD and OpenAI on CNBC at 9:30 a.m. on "Squawk Box."

Government shutdown: CNBC's Joe Kernen -- the tea leaves suggest this shutdown is going to end sooner than later. It's hard for me to believe that CNBC lets Joe Kernen opine the way he does. Trump spokesman says the GOP wants to end the shutdown: that may be true in the US Senate, and pockets of the US House, but, in fact, the White House loves where the country is at right now.
AMD: while I'm writing this, AMD is now up $57. Same with INTC: up nicely.
