Another rumor: Pioneer about to buy Ovintiv.
I "never" post "rumors" and "what-ifs" but these are too good to not be posted.
If I had a nickel for every rumor I've heard in the oil patch, I could give up this hobby horse (the blog) and retire in Costa Rica. Not that I would ever want to do that.
I can't see PXD buying Ovintiv, because PXD wants to be Permian only and Ovintiv is multi-basin (probably even Canadian assets). Maybe just the Permian part of it?
ReplyDeleteAnd I really couldn't see PXD buying all of Oxy either. Downstream assets, international, multi-basin, etc. Totally repositions PXD. And I can't see OXY selling off their Permian stake either. What's the point in that, after buying Anadarko. Plus lot of debt to keep takeovers at bay.
These rumors sound flaky.
Maybe Cononco buying either company. Even then, I doubt it happens since the companies seem to want to keep buyers at bay. That is unless the OXY board has neutered Vicki.
Recently Oasis bought Bakken acres from FANG when the latter bought QEP.
DeleteAnd I quit following OXY after they bought Anadarko but I believe the former sold off overseas assets that didn't fit their plans.
Texas has super good ways to extract oil from the ground.
ReplyDeleteMexico has a lot of oil, but has troubles extracting it.
So Texas and Mexico should merge into one country.
It would be named Texaco
Pretty hilarious!
DeleteThat would also eliminate our border issues
ReplyDeleteThe company would drill horizontal tunnels ten feet underground connecting Guatemala and Texaco.
DeleteAll right.... you guys are having WAY too much fun with this.... Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit "Texaco" is one of the better ideas I've heard in a long time.
