Notes From All Over -- The "Morning-After" Edition -- November 27, 2020

How 'bout them Cowboys? I did not watch the game but the highlights ... amazing.

Apple: to move some iPad and MacBook production to Vietnam.

Ouch: yet to be confirmed but sources reporting that Iran's senior nuclear weapons scientist assassinated.

Mideast heating up:

  • November 29, 2020: reports that the USS Nimitz on its way home, has now turned around and is returning to "the gulf";
  • Brits have security forces in Saudi Arabia; apparently the forces have been since January, 2020;
  • US sends B-52s to Mideast (Minot AFB, ND-based bombers)
  • tabloid reports that Israel prepared/preparing;
  • Iranian nuclear scientist assassinated
  • Trump not happy about election "loss" ("everybody" knows Sleepy Joe did not get 80 million votes)
  • Michael Flynn full pardon; might Flynn be back in touch with Trump as "behind-the-scenes" security advisor?

This guy is nuts. But then we all knew that. "Passing mashed potatoes at the Thanksgiving table" is banned. Read the highlights of the Thanksgiving restrictions imposed by the California governor; truly nuts;

Disney: "hope springs eternal"; any thoughts that Disneyland would open any time soon? Look at the Thanksgiving ban; "can't pass mashed potatoes at dinner"; any chance Disneyland will be allowed to open any time soon; Disney must have gotten the memo; announced another round of "layoffs."

Pluto TV: James Bond non-stop.

Ouch: state with highest poverty level? One guess and it's not any state east of Nevada. Link here.

Investors: don't sell potential 10-baggers just to chase income. Truer words never spoken. Trust me. I have over thirty years of bad experience in personal investing. LOL.

Disclaimer: this is not an investment site.  Do not make any investment, financial, job, career, travel, or relationship decisions based on what you read here or think you may have read here.

Reading: I have completed The Real Lolita by Sara Weinman, c. 2018. Gets my vote if one enjoys this sort of stuff. At the end of the day, it's a "throwaway" book but I really enjoyed it. Lots of cocktail party trivia. Are cocktail parties still allowed. LOL. Does anyone really think the Hollywood elite didn't host huge Thanksgiving parties?

The Fed will buy "stocks." Investopedia. July 20, 2020. Best thing I've read so far today ... but it's early. Forbes, also, July 18, 2020: the Fed is going to buy stocks. The other day a reader said this market will crash when there are no more buyers. The Fed is the buyer of last resort. And that's just one arrow in their quiver. Pretty funny. Just after typing that, this popped up: "The Fed has bought $8.7 billion worth of ETFs. Did the Fed convince Wall Street it would be "the buyer of first or last resort?" Link here. This pretty much guarantees a floor. By the way, Any way you look at $8.7 billion, that's an incredibly small number. AAPL market value alone is $2 trillion. One wonders why it took this long?

Note from reader: Mall of American, Minnesota. Largest mall in America. Parking lot empty at 7:30 a.m. this morning.

  1. I'm in the Middle East. Went to be early to watch the game...then did about 2 hours and sacked out again. Was pretty close whole time I saw. Didn't break open until the end. Score a little deceptive.

    All that said...go Skins and HTTR!

    1. I did not watch the game; only the highlights after the game and the reporting. You are very, very correct. The game was close until .. it simply fell apart for the Dallas Cowboys.

  2. Not much Thanksgiving over here. You forget American holidays when not there.

    1. Not every year, not every holiday, but in general, that was experience also -- we tended to forget American holidays when overseas, except for Christmas.
