I guess the LA Times does not consider this a "public disclosure." Fortunately this bit of "top secret" intel was buried in the sixth paragraph of the story. It will take years for the Iranians to translate this story, and even longer for them to get to the sixth paragraph.
By the way, I doubt the Iranians are troubled by the F-22. US pilots are probably more concerned with the aircraft than the "enemy." I'm surprised it's even deployed.

The people who now run mass media, got their start during the Vietnam war era (or shortly thereafter) when the media was clearly prejudiced against the US gov't. It was in that era that the concept of media abusing their free speech privilege by "aiding and abetting the enemy" started to be abandoned. No forces have since been able to resurrect and enforced the penalties for "aiding and abetting the enemy", in so far as the media is concerned.
ReplyDeleteYou are so correct. I once saw a documentary in which Mike Wallace, I believe, was on assignment with a US Army platoon in South Vietnam. He was asked that if he had learned that his platoon was going to be ambushed whether he would inform his platoon leader. He said he would not; his job was to report the news, not make it, or change it. I was blown away.
DeleteBut I agree with you: the media can pretty much report anything they want these days even if it puts our military men and women in harm's way.
