Russ Atkins, an area supervisor for Continental Resources, said the emergency shutdown cost his company 8,000 barrels of daily production, though he said there was no blame for what nature caused.Bigger than Prudhoe Bay (Alaska). That's huge. And we've barely started.
Atkins said the Bakken is unique and he suspects even North Dakotans don't realize how to grasp its stature.
"This is world-class, bigger than Prudhoe Bay. We have to start thinking differently," he said.
