Old News, but the Oil Patch Is Quiet This Morning

The Bakken is quiet this morning, at least as far as news is being reported. But I can't stand not putting something new on the site.

So, here's some old news (originally reported September 7, 2010) and has to do with the Montana Bakken, which I don't follow as a rule simply because I have enough trouble keeping up with the North Dakota Bakken without adding Saskatchewan and Montana to the mix.

Minor story in the big scheme of things: Whiting announces that they acquired 112,000 gross acres (90,000 net acres) in the Montana Bakken. By the way, this is a huge acquisition for WLL in Montana; previous to this, WLL had about 13,000 net acres in Montana Bakken.

For perspective, WLL has about 400,000 net acres in the North Dakota Bakken.

So, that's it. Not much news. I have updated earlier posts such as oil well activity in Stark County, and other posts on the sidebar at the right.

There are two news stories in the Dickinson Press today regarding housing in Dickinson, but nothing of significant interest to be linked.

Two long comments were posted at "Six Months Later."

Time for coffee, eh?
