EOG and the Niobrara
Someone came to this site looking to see where EOG is drilling its Niobrara wells. EOG is drilling the Niobrara in northern Colorado, but EOG will not release additional information according to this story. It's been about a month since that story ran so there are probably some people in northern Colorado who can shed more light on this. Other than these occasional snippets, this blog will remain focused on the North Dakota oil industry. I do touch on the Niobrara occasionally and have a link in the sidebar on the right.

It's no secret where EOG is drilling Niobrara. The well permits are public. The Jake 2-01H, EOG's discovery well is in Weld County, Colorado (Section 1, Township 11N, Range 63W). If you want to see that go to the Colorado Oil and Gas commission website and load the interactive GIS map. http://cogcc.state.co.us/ and click on "maps" on the left hand side.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. Yes, I thought that strange that the journalist would say that "no one" knew where EOG was drilling their wells; that's why I simply linked the story and left it at that. But I thought Colorado would be the same as North Dakota (and probably every other state) with regard to published location of permits.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the journalist was suggesting EOG is being quiet about where it will go next, but that's true everywhere.
Thank you very much for providing information to those who are curious about EOG and the Niobrara. I think the current drilling program in the "Rocky Mountain" region is very, very exciting. Again, thank you.
Although I want to keep my focus on North Dakota, I will put the Colorado link in my right sidebar.
