NEWS
March 28, 2011: First hint that there may be some problems in the oil patch when 1Q11 earnings are reported. HAL is already reporting that weather-related issues and unrest in the Mideast will affect earnings. Meanwhile rest of industry is very bullish on news that Saudi Arabia may ramp up production significantly, going from 90 rigs to 118.

This is typical big Corp bs. When you accumulate a bunch of bad projects that have been carried on the books for years then write them all off when a sector wide "crisis" happens.
ReplyDeleteThis is all about cam and Hal and has nothing to do with the health of the many companies with sound revenue flows .
So with 3 days left before the first qtr is done any public traded company that will miss earnings should be sending a notice out this next few days.. in the case of hal it would appear to me that they are going to be light at least 8 cents from the low earnings estimate that was projected previously..
ReplyDeleteWith all the snow and cold in the Bakken they could be many Light earnings this QTR.. Then in April the bakken will have the month of MUD..So fraccing and well compleation will be diffulcult..
How coincidental. I was just getting ready to post that we could see significant production expectations/goals missed in the Bakken for 1Q11 due to weather. 700 wells shut in during January, etc.
ReplyDeleteWell if the oil is shut in due to weather then the oil is still there so the only problem (if there is one) is short term expectations. so maybe there will be a sell off, who knows ?
