Winter Boots: Memories

I don't recall when I bought my Sorel winter boots, but I remember wearing them during the winter of 1967 - 1968 when snowmobiling in North Dakota. 

I was reminded of those snow boots when I stumbled across this article. 

The author reviews three or four brand name boots, but the article begins with a design from Sorel. Those were my first set of "real" winter boots. I still have them. I don't know what to do with them. I doubt I will ever wear them again -- they've been with me all these years, including all our years in Europe and took them to the Bavarian and Swiss alps when we went skiing back in the 80s (1980s). 

My Sorel boots are still in perfect condition.

It appears the CDC only shows the most recent five "season flu" seasons, to include the current season. That means, next year, we won't be seeing the graphic to include the "seasonal flu" pattern for 2020 - 2021 -- the year of Covid-19 shutdown.

That year, while Covid-19 was spiking, "seasonal flu" was hardly seen.

So, this is for the archives. The 2020-2021 season was quite remarkable to say the least. 

To make it easier, I've "stripped" the charts to only show a maximum of three years in each graphic below: the current year and "20-21" compared with the other years.

Apple search update:

Apple to "replace" Dye with Lemay: 

According to the report, Dye will now be head of design for hardware, software and AI integration at Meta's freshly created design studio. Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed the news to Bloomberg, and said that his replacement will be long-time Apple designer Stephen Lemay. 

Social media suggests this is a very, very welcome change for those who have worked under / for Dye all these years. Link here. 

Not much on Stephen "Margaret" Lemay. Maybe the best despite all the ads.
