Most of the cell phone carriers were down for significant portions of the day (ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon, US Cellular -- but not Spectrum). The system broke down simultaneously, abruptly and without warning at 11:30 a.m. CT, some cities affected more than others. It appears Verizon was the worse affected. ChatGPT explained the likely cause(s). Now, at 10:45 p.m., most of the systems improved significantly but most are still reporting outages:
