This seems like good news. Are you better off now than you were four years ago?
Look at that growth from 2000 — just four years ago. From $10 trillion to $35 trillion in four years?
I’m somewhat surprised IRA assets are growing so slowly, or at least appear so.
Key / legend (for definitions google acronym DC DB pensions):
- the bottom green: IRAs
- light blue: DC plans — e.g., 401(k) plans
- red: private-sector DB plans — i.e., pensions
- orange: government DBs -- huge increase since 2000
- the small blue at the top: annuity reserves
For the drop in IRA assets 2022 - 2023, see / Google Dow history and look back five years.
