ReplyDeleteI've long forgotten who suggested this, and It's not perfect for many reasons, but based on what that reader was seeing in his royalty statements, he/she was trying to find something that had a similar price. This was some months ago.
Murban Crude is very, very interesting for a number of reasons -- it is very, very light, but not even as light as some Bakken oil.
Where it "fails" in the comparison with Murban Crude is sulfur content. By our standards, Murban Crude would be considered sour whereas Bakken has very, very low sulfur content.
I will probably start replacing "Bakken proxy" with the actual term, Murban Crude.
