Poolside: 11:00 a.m. DFW. Folks already outside grilling. Whoo-hoo!
Later, a reader replied, with regard to the white-tailed kites -- also in Montana. Whoo-hoo! Considered "accidental" in Montana, and supposedly when seen in north-central Texas. Not "accidental" at all. These birds know exactly what they are doing. LOL.
Original post: Supposedly these birds are not to be seen in the DFW area, but I am convinced I'm seeing white-tailed kites flying over Euless. If so, it's the lakes in the area that attracts them. Apparently they are only seen in southeast Texas along the coast, though some folks suggest they are also being seen farther inland to include Dallas and Tarrant (Ft Worth) counties.
And now I understand why they are called "kites."

The Book Page
My 2022 - 2023 winter reading program.
Summer reading program: May 1, 2023 - September 30, 2023.
I've finally finished all but three of the eight books I bought at Powell Bookstore in Portland, OR, a few weeks ago.
Of the three:
- one in which I lost interest, but will go back and finish because of the vocabulary;
- one is simply a very, very difficult science book and will take great concentration; and,
- one is the best of the lot and am reading it slowly to get most enjoyment.
I just finished the book on the rise and reign of mammals, which is the "mammal" book that should be summer reading for any high school student planning to major in biology in college.
