Another glowing review of the new Apple iPhone 12 smartphones. Link here. There's definitely a different level of (positive) anticipation regarding these new phones. Comparing apples and oranges:
GM is on a huge CAPEX spending spree, announcing yet another new EV factory, this will be their third in just the past few months;
- P/E:
- GM: 33
- AAPL: 36
- dividend:
- GM: none
- AAPL: 0.76%
- cash flow, quarterly:
- GM: a negative $10 billion
- AAPL: $60 billion

So many story lines. I'm just blown away by the fact that GM and AAPL have essentially the same P/E. I'm way too biased but it just seems to me the excitement over the iPhone 12 is unprecedented except perhaps with that seen with iPhone 6. Combine the excitement with the new phone plus 5G and it certainly seems this could really be incredible.
Folks who still have jobs have a lot of money to spend. $/GB storage these phones are actually less expensive than the previous corresponding phones. Folks are looking for something exciting, anything to take their minds off politics and Chinese flu. I'm seeing literally no negative reviews of the iPhone 12.
We won't see this when Apple reports this quarter's numbers but next quarter's results should be amazing.

By the way, how much is it costing Apple to put 5G into their phones. Over time, the cost is coming down, but as recently as August 22, 2020, this was the breakdown:
- iPhone 12: to save on cost with simpler battery board design;
- amazing how much these components cost: $85 for sub-6GHz 5G technology;
- $135 for millimeter wave technology
- those two components alone total: $220!
Back to 5G. I don't know if folks remember, but the other day I posted a video to explain mineral rights to a reader. During that video, I had to "re-fresh" a graphic on my computer. The re-fresh took several seconds. With 5G that will never, never, never, ever happen again. The re-fresh will literally be instantaneous.

Are we seeing this kind of enthusiasm for GM?
And the P/E for GM and AAPL almost the same at 33 - 36.
