The Salem Witch Trials: From Start To Finish, 9 Months -- And, Oh, Yes, The Bakken -- April 27, 2018

Quick takes:
  • President Trump's staff, has again, lost a great opportunity to do the right thing with regard to the "Honduran caravan"
  • perhaps the most historic meeting since 1945 took place this week and the mainstream media pretty much ignored it; the best way to kill a story? Ignore it. Ask Brenda James
  • whether Rosalind Franklin should have shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine will be debated forever, but it was convenient for the committee that she did not meet the criteria: no more than three living individuals can share a Nobel prize
  • for all the fracking in North Dakota, there certainly aren't many earthquakes. Knock on wood.
  • I think the Salem witch hunts took less time. Yes, from Stacy Schiff's The Witches: Salem, 1692, c. 2015: 1692: Massachusetts Bay Colony, executed fourteen women, five men, and two dogs for witchcraft; start to finish — 9 months
