First, the easy question. In the well file, the most recent "Transportation and Purchase" form includes "PU" after the well name [Hanson 33-28H (PU)]. We did not know what "PU" stands for? Does anyone know? A google search suggested "producing unit" but that doesn't seem to help or make sense.
Now, the more difficult question. Look at the production history for this well. It has never produced for a full 30-day or 31-day month. Most recently it was down to 5 days:

This is a very good well, having produced 43,000 bbls in less than a year despite a very sporadic production record.
My hunch is that trucks are having difficulty (or the company is having trouble getting trucks) getting to the site to empty the tanks on the pad.
So now that I have embarrassed myself with my hunch, I will be curious what the experts suggest. Smile. Thank you in advance for any help.
I am not sure there is a pipe line on that side of the township road (north side). There is on the south side which has about a half dozen wells producing from the East about 3 miles. This well is on the edge of the Dublin Marmon field. Just a few hundred yards to the West of this well, is permitted HRC 26372 and 26373 destined for south direction. That road can hardly handle one semi, let alone two of them trying to pass.
ReplyDeleteThank you. You know, I know so little about this, and this is way beyond my comfort zone, and the experts are probably laughing, but I truly think that's what it's all about. I spoke with a gentleman today who builds/provides 400-bbl tanks for the wells/pads, and he said that was most likely the reason. We weren't discussing this particular well but based on what he said about the entire tank / truck issue, it makes the most sense. Thank you for taking time to write.
DeleteI think there's a whole lot more than any of us realize about what the capacity is for Bakken production -- the true capacity / potential under ideal conditions -- vs what is actually being produced and sold (affected by trucking issues, road issues, weather issues, pricing issues, etc).
