There are several CLR Tangsrud wells within a quarter mile of each other. A 6 well pad that flowlines back to a central tank battery (CTB) and 3 or 4 single well pads and possibly a 2 well all with their own battery.
ReplyDeleteI've been told by CLR employees none are very good and know of no plans to work on them.
A mile north and a mile west I just finished the reclaim on the CLR Osborne 1 which was a 1981 well as I was told. It was part of the Dolphin unit that Harold purchased to get acreage in ND back in the "old days".
This coming spring it will be farmed for the first time in 40 years.
1. I'm impressed with folks like you remembering the "old" days. Pretty interesting to hear about the early days of Harold Hamm.
Delete2. I vaguely recall the Tangsrud wells when I first heard of them: growing up we had friends in Williston with last name Tangsrud.
Thank you for taking time to write. Amazing, that after 40 years -- will be farmed again. The "prairie wheel" keeps turning.
These Tangsrud wells are part of an experiment by Continental, they drilled wells in all zones in this unit... This well is a 3rd bench 3 Forks well. Considering that, and how far north this is of the 'sweet spot' in the Bakken... But they gave it a good long try to see how it could do... Maybe with $100+ crude oil, all these wells would just keep pumpin'!
DeleteAgree completely.
DeleteThese were important wells for the reasons you listed.
With newer completion strategies, it's always possible they will drill again, sooner than expected, but in the current environment, as you suggested, companies are being conservative.
I appreciate folks writing in on Bakken operations, past and present (and future): it reminds me to add tags to the posts.
