Seven (7) New Permits -- The Williston Basin, North Dakota, USA

This was a most interesting daily activity report, May 5, 2012 -- with six of seven permits for six wells on one pad:

Operators: Hess (6), KOG
Fields: Little Knife (Dunn), Grinnell (McKenzie)
The six-well pad will be in section 22-146-97.

There is another producing well in this section:
18731, 1,434, Hess/Tracker, Wing 15-1H, t7/10; cum 136K 3/12;
Why I stay excited about the Bakken!

  1. Looked up the case for this 6 well pad (16888).

    Looks like they are planning on 6 short laterals on this 1280. 3 Running north and 3 running south from the mid point of this 1280 acre unit.

    Also interesting is they are planning a 25 stage frac job for each. That would be like a 50 stage frac job on a long lateral.

    All 6 wells will be in the MB I believe.

    1. Cross-checking legal description with GIS map server suggests you are correct with regard to all being short laterals. The rest all makes sense also.

      This is very, very interesting. I am back to adding such permits to my "Wells to Watch" list:

    2. Looking initial production numbers for each of the four Continental Resources wells on the ECO Pad (Kukla-Candee). So far all I can find is the total for the four, anyone have any idea where I can find them?

      Thanks,

    3. The folks over at the Bakken Shale Discussion Group are probably the best folks to ask for individual well information.

      Due to so many wells being drilled now and so many with similar names, the discussion group will probably request well file numbers/permit numbers, which I also require when researching information.
