From Vern Whitten yesterday:
We've flown north in Minnesota to near the Canadian Border, around Fargo, out to Jamestown and southwest from there about 100 miles. Take a look:NOW you can see more than our photos. Fly along with me, and see where they are on a satellite map.
Here's how:
- alongside Vern's photographs, open another window to Google maps or something similar;
- at the bottom of each photo over at Vern Whitten's site, find the latitude and the longitude;
- copy and past the latitude and longitude into the "search" box at the map app;
- be sure the "lat/long" includes the comma and the "minus" sign for the longitude
Drop Mr Whitten a line; he would love to hear from you. And, in addition, he may have an aerial photograph of "your" well.

My Dad, who passed away last June, was actually the man who originally dropped Vern's name to you, Bruce, way back years ago on your blog. Vern took some great pictures of a pad or two we participate in for us and they are great pieces of art, proudly displayed at our homes. Dad was a huge follower and supporter of this fine thing you have crafted Mr. Oksol, and of Mr. Whitten's art. Thank you both for a good memory of Dad.
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow. That is so cool. Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I am quite impressed with Vern Whitten's work, and I really do think a lot of mineral owners in the Bakken would enjoy framed prints of "their" wells.
DeleteI always look forward to notes like yours and I always look forward to the quarterly updates Mr Whitten sends my way. Amazing how beautiful North Dakota and Minnesota look from the air. Such a different perspective.
