iPad sales: surging, exploding. Remote learning taking off. More on this later. Sophia will provide input in this area.
IMS: highest since January, 2019. Link here.
The economic activity in the US' manufacturing sector expanded at a stronger pace in August than it did in July with the ISM's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) climbing from 54.2 in July to 56. This reading marked the highest print since January 2019 and came in better than the market expectation of 54.5.
Saudi Arabia cutting deliveries to US, following another huge misstep by Saudi Arabia. Bloomberg link here and another post here. Initial headline for this Bloomberg article: Saudi Arabia crude oil deliveries to US have all but halted.
Australia plunges into first recession in 29 years; biggest GDP drop on record. Maybe I'm missing something but this seems to be a bit of hyperbole. The story is accurate but compared to the drop in GDP in other countries around the world, Australia has done quite well, unless, as noted, I'm missing something.

The market is on a tear: the digital revolution expected in 2030 was brought forward to 2020. A market reset.
Remote learning: not only are iPad sales surging but now it's clear that "cheap," low-memory models are not going to cut it. Sophia, first grade, is attending school remotely through her iPad. Yesterday Sophia told me that at her in-school assessment she was told that she can't load any more apps on her school-issued iPad because there is not enough memory. The only apps she has loaded are those required by the school and by her first-grade teacher. But there's more to the story.
When Sophia went back to TutorTime where she actually physically sits for distance learning, her close friend next to her said that the most important app was an app on "focusing," and Sophia did not have that app on her iPad. Robert then proceeded to load that app on Sophia's iPad. Sophia said that she was not supposed to load any new apps but Robert again reminded her it was the most important app, and, get this, he said he would take all responsibility and all the blame if it came to the attention of the teacher. By the way, Sophia says the principal said that she could load more apps. So, again, Sophia did some fact checking and everything seems in order.
