Updates
August 16, 2017: the 6,800-bbl IP reported by BR in the Charlson field was a typographical error over at the NDIC.
July 20, 2012: see comments. This was a typo/error by NDIC. The CLR well file report shows the IP to be 491. However, the 6,800-bbl IP reported by BR in the Charlson field seems to be correct.
July 8, 2012: the reported IP is probably an error based on comments from several readers. We should know later this week; watch for NDIC correction. If it is an error, the likely IP was 499.

By the way, this location/permit was originally a Newfield permit, acquired by CLR.
For newbies, you can check out some initial high production wells at this page.
I don't understand how the IP for this well is higher than the 6 day total production. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteThe IP is probably an error, and will be corrected by NDIC on Monday.
DeleteIt is an error. Looking at the well file on line at NDIC the file has:
ReplyDeleteIP 491 bbl oil with choke size of 18/64, and this I found strange: casing pressure was 0. This is probably why there is a pump on it already. Most Bakken wells flow for at least a couple months before putting a pump on.
They did a 40 stage frac on the well also. I did not read the entire 136 page report, but the lack of pressure seems odd.
Thank you. Yes, I have a stand-alone post that said it was in error -- I will update the note above. My prediction that the IP was in fact 499 was not to far off from the corrected 491. Thank you for taking time to write.
