Operators: SM Energy, EOG, Silver Oak Energy, and American Eagle
Fields: Colgan (Divide), Charlson (McKenzie), Cedar Hills (Slope), Parshall (Mountrail)
After just posting a fairly long note regarding American Eagle yesterday, it is with some pleasure to see another American Eagle permit.
Four wells were released from "tight hole" status; two were completed/fracked, including:
- 21084, 1,497, Denbury, Satter 24-35SEH, McKenzie
- 16882, 59, Denbury, TRMU 13X-22H, Billings, a Madison well
- 19981, 1,003, Zavanna, Gust 2-11 1H, Williams
Bruce: The two SM Energy wells are in a spacing unit that already holds three other wells. Thus, SM will have a total of five in the 1260 acre unit.
ReplyDeleteDo you know what the abbreviations on these two new wells mean: Norby 9X-20HA and 9X-20HB? One of the existing wells is Norby 9-20H, so I'm thinking that these three will be operated as a unit?
I apologize, I don't know.
DeleteI used to try to figure out the nomenclature of the names of wells, but the operators all have their own methods, and it got to be overwhelming to try to keep track or figure them out.
However, I do recall another operator using the "A" and "B" to designate different formations: one could mean the middle Bakken and the other could mean Three Forks.
The good news: as we start seeing more and more wells, and assuming the operators remain consistent we will be able to "guess" what they mean. For now, my hunch is that one of these two wells will be targeting the middle Bakken; the other, targeting the Three Forks.
More on the above. As an example of how "letters" are being used to designate formations:
Delete17662, Bear Den Federal 4Y-30H: middle Bakken
18248, Bear Den Federal 4Z-30H: Three Forks
Both of these are in section 30-149-95.
Likewise:
Delete18579, Jorgenson 1-30H: middle Bakken
19049, Jorgenson 1X-30H; Three Forks
