Initiatives To Cut the Gas Tax!

The New Hampshire House speaker is proposing that the state lower the state gasoline tax by 5 cents (from eighteen cents to thirteen cents) for two months to help folks afford gasoline.
CONCORD — House Speaker William O'Brien, R-Mont Vernon, proposed a 5 cent per gallon cut in the state gasoline tax for two months to help residents coping with soaring prices at the pump.

O'Brien said he fully expects the House of Representatives will embrace his plan as early as next Wednesday.

O'Brien's proposal would cut the gasoline tax to 13 cents per gallon until June 30 when it would go back up to 18 cents.

"I think this is very important for folks pulling up at the pump," O'Brien said during a news conference in his office.

"It's important for small businesses too. This is a relief that they need and it is something we have an opportunity to do."
Well, that should help.

I can't make this stuff up. Gasoline is selling for a bit less than $4.00/gallon in New Hampshire .

  2. i say , less the market forces work..little gimics like this are of no avail.
Call your congressman and women, let the members of the Senate KNOW that the USA needs more choices in liquid fuel production.. Have these voted members cut the RED tpe and stand back and let both Nat. Gas become more utilized as a vechile fuel, and start building coal to liquid fuel plants in the Dakota's. < MT., Wy and other states with huge coal deposits.. The CO2 can be sold to Denbury ( DNR ) and Whiting ( WLL ) for EOR enhanced oilk recovery..There are also others in the field do you research and then call or write the folks in DC..
If you do not want to do that, just get used to the price we have today for motor fuel.

  3. That was the reason for the post. The proposal to cut 5 cents from the cost of gasoline is simply that, a gimmick. Folks need to let their Congressmen and Senators know that the US has lots of energy options and opportunities.
