Notes From All Over -- The Celebrity Edition -- November 12, 2021

Alex Gorsky: twice in just a few days, the CEO of JNJ is in the news. A few days ago, it was announced that Gorsky joined Apple, Inc.'s board of directors; and now, this morning, JNJ is surging after announcing that JNJ will split into two companies.

JNJ, continued: I was disappointed that one of the main reasons for this split was not discussed.

Taylor Swift: trending now that it's being reported that she is re-recording her albums.

Gene Simmons: trending.

Jack Frost: trending. Here is the latest. And from November 11, 2021, over North Dakota. Time to get out the Carhartt jackets.

Hardest-working states in American: link here. From a reader, thank you. Perhaps a stand-alone post later. Spoiler alert: Alaska and North Dakota have traded the number one spot back and forth over the years. The lede:

Americans are hard workers, putting in an average of 1,767 hours per year as of 2021, according to the World Economic Forum. That’s 435 hours per year more than Germans work, but 357 fewer than Mexicans do. Comment: I was surprised to see Germany mentioned in the lede; I would have expected England.

Dithering: Brandon's SecEnergy laughs when asked about the high price of gasoline. She says she does not understand why $80-oil does not incentivize oil companies to drill for oil. This is one of the reasons, though minor, but it highlights how the Brandon administration will do what it takes to hurt the domestic oil sector. The sword of Damocles.

OPEC: why some folks think OPEC is not increasing production quotas. Link here.

Strikes: not looking good for John Deere and Kellogg employees. Time to get with the program.  The John Deere strike began on October 14, 2021. The Kellogg strike has gone on even longer; it began October 5, 2021. This speaks volumes about the stories we aren't being told about supply chain shortages and the labor market.
