From an earlier post:
The union:
The union: Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco & Grain Millers union (BCTGM). Where I have I heard that name before? Here it is: this is the Hostess/Twinkie union -- the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco & Grain Millers union (BCTGM). Hmmmm. And:
By federal law, replacement workers are deemed temporary in a lockout; so union members would go back to work if they approve Crystal's contract offer. Still, a "return-to-work" agreement must be negotiated, and talks over that could get tricky, too.
No surprise on this getting approved... over 600 of the original 1,300 members (of this "local" or group whatever they call it) have retired, officially quit and most certainly many more that never notified them that they have moved on or quit officially. Wouldn't be surprised if some of them are working as replacement workers also.
ReplyDelete100% in agreement.
DeleteA couple interesting data points (one published, one not): unemployment benefits were starting to run out or had run; union financial assistance.
I hope the "replacement" workers who want to continue working are able to stay on.
A lot I could say, but I won't.
