Spring, Texas, is right north of Houston. I've been to Old Town Spring - full of old buildings and antique stores.  Charming and friendly but didn't find much to buy.  Great place to stroll around - lots of little eateries.

I see their corporate offices are now in Houston with locations in Dubai, Norway, Scotland, Malaysia and Nigeria.  What an interesting life.

And, here's the house, on Arcane Court, Spring, TX.  Average value in the neighborhood is $375,000, and that tax bill is average as well.  Most houses built in 2005 - so not the historic area.  Love the address. 
 
There's ~$200/month in HOA fees, so probably a gated community.

August 14, 2021: a bit of trivia that is now just being released. The CDC clearly stated that there was not "outbreak" of Covid-19 in Sturgis or South Dakota prior to the rally. It was widely reported there was a huge Covid-19 outbreak just up the coast from Martha's Vineyard prior to the birthday bash. What was not said, but is now being reported ,there was a huge Covid-19 outbreak raging on Martha's Vineyard prior to the birthday bash, and "everyone" knew it.

This is not pro-Fauci, anti-Fauci. This is not political, it's not a statement about my thoughts about Covid, it's simply an observation. 

It was sent to me by a reader. 

We're all thinking it.

If the media ignores this story, it simply speaks volumes about the media.

In New York City, over 2 million people ride the subway every day and 1 million people ride a bus.  Every day.

And Fauci is concerned about a motorcycle rally?  



He's not concerned about illegal aliens streaming across our southern border.  He doesn't mention Chicago's huge crowd at a concert.  He sure doesn't mention Obama's birthday party.

And, main-stream media never mentions his obvious bias.

An Incredibly Quiet Morning -- Oh, That's Right -- It's Monday -- August 9, 2021

Heard on the lake:

  • the anchored sailboat in the "bay" has not moved; still moored just off the dock; 
  • the haze from all the western Canadian fires has dissipated; can see the mountain ranges again;
  • WTI is selling off overnight, this morning;
  • a few weeks ago, we were happy with $60 oil; today, WTI trading around $65;
  • worries about the Chinese variant -- worries spiked just after photos released of the birthday party, no masks;
  • not much talk about Sturgis;
Swing consumption:
I had a blog posting some weeks ago that a few years ago, everyone was arguing about whether US shale was a swing producer or not. That was an interesting question and I wrote about it a lot.

But now, the question has turned to "swing consumer." And the swing consumer is China.

US oil consumption rises and falls fairly quietly month-over-month, but the Chinese imports can be quite volatile month-over-month.
