  1. OFF TOPIC:

Strange, I see you have removed your post about The Dickinson Press and the Enbridge Pipeline article.

I hope it wasn't because of my comments.

    1. No, it was not removed because of your comments. In fact I posted your comments, replied, and moved on.

But then I received a very nice note from a North Dakota reader who shares my views but felt that the Enbridge spill was in fact much more serious than I let on.

I have to agree. It was a serious spill and I should not have called it a "non-story." It might not have been a big story "in the big scheme of things," but it caused a lot of distress for the folks in Michigan. There are still ramifications from that spill. (The confusing thing for me is that except for the Dickinson Press story, I have not seen the story elsewhere in major mainstream media (LA Times, NY Times, etc., which suggests that it is a non-story to those editors.) So, when I get conflicted to this level, it's just best for me to remove the post.

I still feel strongly that the story was overplayed in the Dickinson Press, and I have "issues" with the ambiguous relationship between the Dickinson Press and InsideClimate News.

I gave that posting a "?" as the subject. I was not sure how to handle it.

So, no, I did not remove the post due to your comments. Your comment was "right on." Your comment dealt with the Dickinson Press. Again, I received a very nice, rational response from a North Dakota native, and thought it best to remove the post. I don't want the blog to turn into a discussion about issues that take away from the main purpose of the blog. That's why I generally stop posting comments to any post after two or three comments, unless they have to do with the Bakken per se.

      Hopefully that all makes sense.

  2. Thank you for clearing that up.

It is very strange the Dickinson Press does a story on the Michigan spill some two years later and not part of a story relating to pipeline issues. The good and the problems that can happen and their frequency.

Enbridge is not a sloppy careless operator. They have expended $700 million to the clean up and will stay with it till the job is done. The distress caused is too bad. However they should be thankful the company is so committed to a full and total clean up.

Anyway enough said and thanks for clearing things up. Onward and forward.

    1. Yes, that was also unsaid (and needed to be said), about responsibility Enbridge has taken for this spill. Thank you for mentioning that.

  3. Hess in Robinson Lake up to 18 wells in !55-93 sections 31,32,33 and 34 a 2560 spacing. Already has six wells in this spacing so an additional 12 wells. interesting.

    1. The jury is still out on whether additional wells affect production of existing wells, but it appears it is minimal. It almost appears some of the companies could dedicate one rig, one team to one section, and keep busy for a long, long time.

Thank you for taking the time to point that out -- the additional wells.
