Net acreage in the Bakken (generally only North Dakota, but some include Montana and ERF includes Montana, Canada and North Dakota). SM is most likely to be way off.

  1. Q. Ole, what do you want to do when you grow up?

    Ole: Play in sand.

    Q. Very good Ole. How many workers does it take to dump and dig sand?

    1. The Niobrara got off to a bit of slow start, but it looks like things are picking up.

Obviously, another $20 million invested suggests HAL is not worried about EPA shutting down fracking.

    1. You beat me to it -- and I've been checking two or three times the past few days.

It will take me awhile to read the linked story. Thank you.

    1. I wish I knew; it's pretty significant, but like Slawson, it is privately held and the data is not available.

  4. CHK probably has a lot more acreage than reported. My guess is around 500,000 plus. They still have over a hundred landsmen working the southern leg of the basin. They are after the Three Forks, Red River and Tyler formations for the most part. They are searching for a JV partner to purchase part of their holdings here.. CHK will probably have over 40 rigs running in and around Stark, Hettinger, and Slope ,etc very soon. A lot of the rigs will be moved in from gas plays that they were drilling in. This part of North Dakota will see a lot of activity for a long time. CHK knows how to ramp up better than any of the companies that are in the business today. It's just getting started and will be very interesting. They are wanting to show their stockholders that they can find a lot of oil ,just like they found a lot of gas in the past.

    1. The numbers are updated at the corporate presentations. As a publicly traded company, CHK does need to provide that data. We may not know until we see the 2012 annual report (issued in 2013).
