This give folks an idea where the activity is. Tioga receives almost twice that of Minot, and Watford City ekes out slightly more than Williston. I recently drove through the town of Parshall. The only evidence of Parshall was the highway sign saying you were in Parshall. There might have been two residential structures at that location.
A Top Ten story!
Many communities got nothing. 95 million was requested by many communities. Look at the entire list and see how unfair this process was.

The process has just begun. I see the folks from Grand Forks would like their fair share, also.
ReplyDeleteGround broken for 2,500-bed man camp in Tioga; maybe folks will now understand why Tioga got $8 million in impact money. To the best of my knowledge, there are no man-camps in Minot.
ReplyDeleteBruce, so far Ward county has NO man-camps. The county commissioners rejected the one request from Target Logistics, and Target Logistics pretty much pulled the plug and said they will not persue the project since they are not wanted. The same company that broke ground on the Tioga mancamp said they are in discussions to locate in Minot to help with the housing situation due to the flooding...I think that could be a good thing for the flood victims in Minot... also indicated they were working on 2 similar camps one each for Watford City and the other for just outside of Williston. I believe they said Williston has nearly 7,000 man camp beds just outside of Williston. Williams county has by far the most mancamps of any of the oil producing counties.

I forgot (if I even knew) that there were 7,000 man-camp beds outside Williston. But can you imagine 2,500 new workers coming to a town with a population of 1,200? It's as if a US Air Force military base moved in with minimal support.
