The County "Saves" Williston's DMV Branch -- December 11, 2018
Williams County to take over operations at Williston's branch of the DMV. Link here. The bigger story seems to be why the state decided to shut down the Williston branch. Be that as it may, the county stepped in to do the right thing.

The office was closing because the people running it could not make money. The State reimbursement was too low for the cost of labor and rent. In the old days, the Chamber of Commerce ran it and they had to pull out too for the same reasons - just an older time. This way, the local taxpayers will have to subsidize the office - for better or worse.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I appreciate that. Wow, I could figure out ways to monetize it! Charge a fee to cover local operating expenses and if after a couple of years, it did not pay for itself, close it down. But I guess there are a lot of things that taxpayers pay for which don't make a profit. LOL.
DeleteOn second thought, I'm probably wrong. The reader's comment was sufficient. I did not need to add my 2-cents worth except to thank him for writing. Sorry.
